“platz da?!!” – a mural for rothenburgsort. in the hamburg district of rothenburgsort, we collaborated with teenagers to create a mural as part of the “testspiele #2” project of projekt büro / hamburg. the aim was to initiate a creative process that put their perspectives and ideas at the forefront.
rothenburgsort is a neighborhood without a clear center or many public meeting spaces. at the same time, it is shaped by a diversity of stories, histories of migration and experiences. during the workshop, the kids playfully developed images, collages, and demands, which later integrated into the mural.
the message “platz da?!!” (“make space?!!”) reflects the desire for more room—not just physically but also for visibility and participation. the project was an attempt to work together with young people to create a symbol and spark dialogue about the future of the neighborhood.
